Recent advances in computer architecture and computing systems (such as,
multicore processors and hybrid systems with accelerators) have made it very
challenging for programmers to reach the performance potential of current
What do GPUs, FPGAs, vector processors and other special-purpose chips have in common? They are advanced processor architectures that the scientific computing community is attempting to use for accelerating computationally demanding applications. While high-performance computing systems that use dedicated application accelerators are still rare, they will be the norm rather than the exception in the near future.
The 15th International Conference on High Performance Computing (HiPC 2008), to be held in Bangalore, India, during December 17-20, 2008, will serve as a forum for presenting current work by researchers from around the world as well as to highlight activities in Asia, in the area of high performance computing. The conference website is http://www.hipc.org/
ICS is the premier international forum for the presentation of research results in high-performance computing systems. The 2009 conference will be held at the IBM T.J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, NY. The Center is located in a scenic area of State of New York and is within easy reach of New York City.
